The Hotel Brenner Koblenz invites you to an unforgettable start to the 2025 hiking season: the picturesque Rheinsteig stage from Vallendar to Koblenz-Ehrenbreitstein is an experience for anyone who loves nature, culture and spectacular views. With a length of just 9 kilometers and a walking time of around three hours, this route is perfect for a relaxing day of hiking - ideal for guests who want to explore the beauty of the Rhine Valley.
The hike begins in Vallendar, a charming town known for its idyllic half-timbered houses. Right from the start, the trail leads over the historic Nepomuk Bridge, which spans the Hillscheider Bach stream, and past the impressive grounds of the Schoenstatt monastery with its extensive park. The Rheinsteig winds its way through quiet valleys, accompanied by babbling brooks, and repeatedly opens up magnificent views of the surrounding nature.
A special highlight is the ascent to the Rhine plateau: here, hikers can enjoy the site of the former Federal Garden Show (BUGA), which still impresses today with its well-tended green spaces and inviting slope edge. The wooden viewing platform offers a breathtaking view of the Deutsches Eck, where the Moselle flows into the Rhine.
Towards the end of the route, the imposing Ehrenbreitstein Fortress towers high above the Rhine. A visit to this historic site (admission charge applies) is a must: discover the exciting exhibitions, the impressive architecture and enjoy the view over the Rhine Valley. From here, you can also take a ride on the cable car, which will take you comfortably to the Deutsches Eck - another highlight of this tour.
After the fortress, the descent begins along the almost alpine rocky path, which offers a special experience with its tight turns and spectacular rock formations. This passage requires sure-footedness and concentration, but rewards you with unique natural moments. Once at the bottom, the trail leads directly to the banks of the Rhine, where the passenger ferry takes you to Koblenz, close to the Deutsches Eck.
The perfect end to this varied hike - because from here it's just a short walk back to the Hotel Brenner, where you can round off the day in comfort.
